The study attempts to determine the conceptual load, genesis, substantive essence, areas of application, functions and structure of Global Health. An evolutionary continuity has been established between public health (the new public health) and global health. The first documented sources of global health and knowledge sharing platforms in the field have been identified. The scope of global health tasks was explored and the main links of the global health system were identified. It has identified the management function as the primary task of global health. A specific feature of the structure of the global health system – the network – was noticed. A number of postulates were formulated to promote global health among public health professionals in Poland.
